A well-organized, belligerent and loud group of right-wingers stood in the aisles and across the back and disrupted the town meeting throughout. They yelled, shouted and jeered, and it was clear that they were not there to participate, but instead to try to disrupt the meeting and make it difficult as possible for anyone else to ask questions.

As if we’re not already overextended enough financially, the issue of National Health Care is now on the table once more vote. Here’s some perspective you might find interesting.
Now back in 1927 an American socialist, Norman Thomas, six times candidate for president on the Socialist Party ticket, said the American people would never vote for socialism. But he said under the name of liberalism the American people will adopt every fragment of the socialist program.
One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it.
Now, the American people, if you put it to them about socialized medicine and gave them a chance to choose, would unhesitatingly vote against it. We had an example of this. Under the Truman administration it was proposed that we have a compulsory health insurance program for all people in the United States, and, of course, the American people unhesitatingly rejected this.
Let’s take a look at social security itself. Again, very few of us disagree with the original premise that there should be some form of savings that would keep destitution from following unemployment by reason of death, disability or old age. And to this end, social security was adopted, but it was never intended to supplant private savings, private insurance, pension programs of unions and industries.
Now in our country under our free enterprise system we have seen medicine reach the greatest heights that it has in any country in the world. Today, the relationship between patient and doctor in this country is something to be envied any place. The privacy, the care that is given to a person, the right to chose a doctor, the right to go from one doctor to the other.
But let’s also look from the other side, at the freedom the doctor loses. A doctor would be reluctant to say this. Well, like you, I am only a patient, so I can say it in his behalf. The doctor begins to lose freedoms; it’s like telling a lie, and one leads to another. First you decide that the doctor can have so many patients. They are equally divided among the various doctors by the government. But then the doctors aren’t equally divided geographically, so a doctor decides he wants to practice in one town and the government has to say to him you can’t live in that town, they already have enough doctors. You have to go some place else. And from here it is only a short step to dictating where he will go.
This is a freedom that I wonder whether any of us have the right to take from any human being. All of us can see what happens once you establish the precedent that the government can determine a man’s working place and his working methods, determine his employment. From here it is a short step to all the rest of socialism, to determining his pay and pretty soon your children won’t decide when they’re in school where they will go or what they will do for a living. They will wait for the government to tell them where they will go to work and what they will do.
What can we do about this? Well, you and I can do a great deal. We can write to our congressmen and our senators. We can say right now that we want no further encroachment on these individual liberties and freedoms. And at the moment, the key issue is, we do not want socialized medicine.
Former Representative Halleck of Indiana has said, “When the American people want something from Congress, regardless of its political complexion, if they make their wants known, Congress does what the people want.”
So write, and if your representative writes back to you and tells you that he or she too is for free enterprise, that we have these great services and so forth, that must be performed by government, don’t let them get away with it. Show that you have not been convinced. Write a letter right back and tell them that you believe in government economy and fiscal responsibility; that you know governments don’t tax to get the money the need; governments will always find a need for the money they get and that you demand the continuation of our free enterprise system. You and I can do this. The only way we can do it is by writing to our congressmen even we believe that he is on our side to begin with. Write to strengthen his hand. Give him the ability to stand before his colleagues in Congress and say “I have heard from my constituents and this is what they want.”
Write those letters now; call your friends and them to write them. If you don’t, this program I promise you, will pass just as surely as the sun will come up tomorrow, and behind it will come other federal programs that will invade every area of freedom as we have known it in this country. Until, one day, as Normal Thomas said we will awake to find that we have socialism. And if you don’t do this and if I don’t do it, one of these days we are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children, what it once was like in America when men were free.

First it has become clear none of our politicians Democrat or Republican will do what needs to be done to stop illegal immigration.

We are just fools to accept this. This is the country that sent a man to the moon in six months yet it takes years to finish a wall between US and Mexico?

But illegals do the jobs Americans do not want to do right ? "WRONG" What I do not want is a job that I have to work 10-12 hours a day then have my taxes pay for those here illegally. I do not want to pay for the non productive legal US citizens for that matter. Another reason our represenatives state in defense of illegals is they have a right to be here in a personal quest for a better life. This country is being taken away and we are made to feel bad or un-compassionate for wanting this to stop. Well I feel bad for the family of Kelly Tracy the sixteen year old girl killed by a drunk driving illegal by the name of Manuel Contreras-Galdean. Our representatives should be put on trial for murder allowing this to happen. Yes murder and if you do not agree imagine Kelly was you child and see if you change your mind. The bottom line is unless we change things we must get use to the fact their desires trump our rights, laws and common decencey. Today is truth day. Under his own admission and travel records, Obama had traveled to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20 What countries passport did he travel under? There are only a few possibilities.He traveled with a U.S. Passport, British Passport, or he traveled with an Indonesia Passport. It is not possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981 as Pakistan was on the U.S. State Department's "no travel" list in 1981. Obama traveled with either a British passport proving he was born in Kenya or he was an Indonesian citizen using a passport from there, as he lived in Indonesia with his mother and stepfather. You cannot have duel citizenship so he must have given up his U.S. citizenship if he truly was born in Hawaii in 1961. Why will the media not push for the truth?

I was going to post some hateful replies from the Huff Post about Sarah Palin today. However I just can not stomach it as the state run media has to much junk about her all over the place today.

Instead I just want to say I am sick of the Dems beating the woman up. Yet I am even more sick and tired of the Repubs not sticking up for her. Lets face it that both parties are way out of touch and at this point I feel they no longer have this countries best interest in mind. Dems are spending like crazy and Repubs are just as bad. It is all about how can I get re-elected, who can give me the most campaign money and that is who I will be beholden too not my constituents. Heck who would not want to be part of congress I mean look; you get good pay with great benefits, you can spend other peoples money on unneeded projects and have the peeps love you for it right. Plus they can cash personal checks at the Congressional bank for money they do not have and it is OK. Yes the average person can not do this with out getting arrested or fined but I forget the politicians are above us or that is what they thinking anyway. Politicians do not fear us as we let them get away with crimes everyday. Look at Bernie, the guy gets hundreds of years for his crimes yet we hold none of our politicians to the same standard, they take us for fools. We have let them get to this point and it is so very disappointing. Our children's future is stuck in the mud of debt. We have allowed this because we have put trust in those who use fear and those who instilled the sense of We are deserve the best and we deserve it now entitlement mentality to run this country.

The mean spirited and hateful Huffington Post has been legitimised by the Soetoro White house.

These are comments left from readers of the of the Huffington Post( A transcript of the speech by Barry(Obama) in Ghana to be exact). Now I am a Reagan lover and I can be pretty syrupy about the guy, but wait till you read the love letters these people write about Barry. Tomorrow I will show the hate filled comments on a Huff Post article about Sarah Palin so we can see and compare the hate and anger on the left.

Finally we have a president who can actually make a difference in Africa!! Even though I'm not African, I think all of us can understand how inspired the Africans must have been by his speech! He stated basically the same things that he says to us. When Americans read this speech, they should be reminded that he wants all of us to serve our country as well.

I am crying over this speech. It can be directly applied to our country right now. Obama has the best intentions for our world and the people of the US. Last week I posted articles from the NY Times and a few other papers about, (Where is the stimulus money?) none of these reporters really wanted an answer so it seems. They accepted Barry and Bidens answer of saying they will speed up the monies release, that government is full of red tape and so on.

I am going to give you what I think is the truth ! The truth is Barry now has a one trillion dollar campaign slush fund courtesy of the U.S taxpayer and their children. The majority of the money will be spent when and where Democrats need to buy votes. Billions of dollars in federal aid delivered directly to the local level to help revive the economy have gone overwhelmingly to places that supported Barry in last year's presidential election. Counties that supported Barry last year have reaped twice as much money per person from the administration's $787 billion economic stimulus package as those that voted for his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain in an analysis of government disclosure and accounting records by economists.
The reports show the 872 counties that supported Obama received about $69 per person, on average. The 2,234 that supported McCain received about $34. This will continue through the 2012 election cycle. This money will be leaked out in 2009 for the 2010 mid term elections, as well as 2011 for the 2012 general elections. This with keeping unemployment high in an attempt to add supporters to his national national health care plan may buy elections for more Democrats in the future if we do not take action and stand up for the U.S.A. Barry is willing to destroy this country to obtain his, looked good on my collage thesis goals. I know many of you are all thinking Reeves Menhennett is "CRAZY" this is just folly and untrue, Well prove me wrong. Well the Tea Party in Norwich N.Y. was not a meeting of thousands, however I feel it was a huge success. I had the opportunity to meet many great Americans such as Earl, Jason and Wendy. I found a few facts stood out while talking to these fine folks, one was I do not think one single issue was dominate. Some feared new taxes, others deficits, the stability of the dollar, government medicine, Socialism, cap and tax and many others. I myself am concerned about all the issues mentioned plus one more "I just do not like the Son of a Bitch (Barry)" no it is not classy or as Barry would say "SEXY" but it is the truth and the only way our voices will be heard is to be honest. One more underlying issue was most people had a fear of what lay ahead. This I do not have.
Not because Barry had a message of HOPE but because I have FAITH as I have stated before on this blog "He that lives upon hope will die fasting." by Ben Franklin. I have FAITH that when all seems lost this generation will get their Ronald Reagan. Not a Reagan clone, no I am waiting for the person that speaks proud about his or her country, makes you feel a little more secure about this countries future and speaks proud of it's past. Makes you proud too live in the USA and gives you just that little something more to work harder to keep it great because they realize you are what makes the USA great not it's government but it's people.
Neither am I waiting for a political Messiah like the left feel they have received. I have FAITH that a good man or woman will tell us what we need to hear not always what we want to hear. I have Faith that one person will step up and have FAITH in the people.

As this blog grows and I get feed back and comments from my fellow great Americans, I feel the need to explain some things and tell you all some of what I want to accomplish with this blog. First I do not hate Barack Hussein Obama "I just can not stand him"! and that is a big difference.

What I want Obama can not give me: I know there are others that will agree with the following:

As Obama travels the world making apologies for the USA I can not understand why he and his wife do not love the country that has given both of them such opportunity. Many think Obama had a hard life in the mean streets of Chicago and that he and his mother were poor and disadvantaged. Well none of this is true, these are all lies not exaggerations but lies from Obama and Axlerod. Obama had a well traveled middle to upper class lifestyle. He was Harvard educated and so much more.

Will we ever understand how or why? Obama can beat up the USA and apologise for all its perceived evils when this is the great country that gave him the "Chance of a lifetime and a country with a lifetime of chance".

As a young eleven year old I did not really understand the whole Ronald Reagan agenda or how important his philosophy was but one thing I did know is I was proud to be an American.

President Reagan explained why I should be proud and led his life and country by example. As I have gotten older no matter where in the world I traveled or have worked (from Kansas to South Korea) I always puffed my chest out a little bit and was proud to be an American and held my head high. Obama does not inspire American pride he makes us guilty for having pride. If you read between the lines you'll know that I'm just trying to understand the feelings that Obama lacks. I never thought I could feel this way about a president and I've got to say that I just don't get him. We don't know exactly where things went wrong but the feelings of pride are gone and I just want that Reagan pride to come back. Obama is not leading he is preaching, using guilt and telling us how to eat, drive, borrow and apologise, he thinks government has all the answers that us poor uneducated common folk can not answer for ourselves. Our fate has not yet been delivered but our moment's at hand, we need to find the next true conservative leader to inspire us not apologise for us. "I want to feel proud again."

An astute blogger by the name of Trevor Loudon believes the childhood mentor called "Frank" in Obama's autobiography "Dreams of My Father" was, in fact, a likely communist, by the name of Frank Marshall Davis. In his March 2007 post titled Barack Obama's Marxist Mentor, Loudon referenced a speech given by Professor Gerald Horne called Rethinking the History and Future of the Communist Party which mentioned Davis and Obama

6. Barry claims his name is African Swahili the truth is Barry had a grandfather whose name was Hussein. The name Hussein is not an African name but rather an Arabic-Muslim name as Hussein was a devout Muslim. He named his son Barack Senior. First and foremost I certainly want the reporters to be returned safely so no emails saying I am heartless, I would only laugh at them anyway so here we go.

The United States might send former US vice president Al Gore to Pyongyang in order to negotiate the release of two American journalists on trial in North Korea for illegal entry. The two women, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, went on trial in North Korea Thursday on charges that could send them to a labor camp for years.

Might I ask why Al Gore!!!!! Someone needs to stop Al from trying to negotiate the release of the captives in N Korea/He will only make their plight worse as he has no credibility on the world stage. My response to Al possibly going to N Korea will be short and sweet. Kim Jong Il Goes to Dollywood for Date Night !!!

Not to be outdone by the Obamas, North Korea’s Kim Jong-il, his wife Kim Young-suk and his three mistresses snuck out to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for a date night.
“We look forward to riding the Dizzy Disk, the Lucky Ducky, and the Piggy Parade,” said Kim Jong-il as he entered the park, “Then we’ll catch a show at the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame. After that, I’m looking forward to a little Kim Young-suk time, if you know what I mean. Come on ladies. Let’s get moving to the rides or else I’ll test a nuke on you, ha ha ha!”
The Jong-il entourage was seen throughout the park, including the Dreamland Forest, Dolly’s Demolition Derby and the legendary Tennessee Tornado roller coaster. Unconfirmed reports indicated that Jong-il managed to win a ‘cupie doll’ for one of his mistresses, but later elected to keep it for himself, claiming she wasn’t good enough for ‘Little Kim-Kim.’
As the park closed, the entourage of North Korean nobility wasn’t ready to call it a night, so the date continued – at a nearby Wal-Mart.

Nancey Reagan says that President Barack Obama snubbed her earlier this year.

Nancy Reagan pretty much told Vanity Fair that Barry missed an opportunnity for some great press when she wasn't invited to a March ceremony where Barry said he'd allow comprehensive stem-cell research -- but that the commander in chief later apologized for the oversight.
Barry also insulted Nancey on Nov. 7, 2008 stating "I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any séances,"

The cost of a NYC weekend

In another odd twist left unexamined by the media, the White House on Monday said it simply would not release the cost of President Obama's weekend jaunt to New York City, where the First Couple had dinner and caught a Broadway show.
Spokesman Robert Gibbs, keeping the White House press corps in stiches, as he always does, said the Obamas would have preferred using a commercial airline shuttle to New York and back, but the Secret Service would not allow such unprotected travel (ba da bing).
And that was that. No further probing; asked and answered; time to move on.
There was, of course, an ironic element of the trip. In February, Obama scolded corporate executives (while also costing Las Vegas some $130 million) when he said: "You can't get corporate jets. You can't go take a trip to Las Vegas, or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers' dime."
But the Chief Executive (Oval) Officer had made a promise to his good wife that after the campaign, they'd take in a Broadway show, and darn it, he meant to keep that promise.

One early estimate (from the New York Post) put the cost at $24,000. Absurdly low. The Daily Mail in London threw out another number — $75,000. Sure, three times as much as the first estimate, but still probably spectacularly low. Remember, joyriding Air Force One around for a few hours over Manhattan a couple months ago cost $250,000, so the cost of the weekend trip was likely not likely that low.
With the White House simply refusing to say how much taxpayer money it spent, here's a helpful way to calculate the cost of the trip:
First, the First Couple (and entourage) flew from the White House to Andrews Air Force Base — three choppers (two decoys), if the Marines stuck to standard operating procedure (and they are sticklers for SOP). That means dozens of men and women — radar, communications, mechanics, crews, everyone, perhaps 100, who knows? — were involved. (A batch of tagalongs must've taken a taxpayer pool of vehicles out from the White House to AAFB, since it took three jets to get the gang to NYC).
Second, the president moving on a Saturday takes a full operation at and around the White House, dozens and dozens of people. Maybe they're all on salary, so that didn't likely cost much. But all the cops involved — D.C. police, uniformed Secret Service officers, Capitol police — were probably paid overtime, even double time. Probably, again, 100 personnel or so.
Then there were the jets — at least $24,000 for the three aircraft used to ferry the Obamas, aides and reporters to New York. The Obamas' jet, a Gulfstream 500, served as Air Force One.
Third, a C-17 had to fly to NYC to put in place a full motorcade (at least a dozen vehicles, maybe more). The military cargo plane may have taken up at least two, but maybe three, more choppers to fly the whole party from JFK to a Wall Street landing zone, where the motorcade was waiting. If not, the choppers flew there solo (White House veteran reporter Mark Knoller of CBS Radio wrote recently that "The VH-3D that serves as Marine One consumes about 1,200 pounds of fuel per hour." Ouch.
Fourth, driving through Manhattan is an expensive exercise. Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of NYPD have to be stationed all along the way, shutting down roads, holding back pedestrians. There were police cars involved, dozens of motorcycles, and the ever-present NYC ambulance (oh, don't forget that the White House doctor also probably went — with all his gear). The city likely gets reimbursed by the White House for the cost (they usually do). And they were all probably getting time and a half (the NYPD overtime budget is extraordinary).
Fifth, the United States Secret Service (USSS) had to scope out the whole thing, then station agents all over — sharpshooters, undercover agents, etc. — at a huge cost. Who knows if they were on overtime. And if you think they went up Saturday morning, think again. They were likely in NYC upwards of a week before, planning the whole evening, every second of every movement. They had to map out five movements — from JFK to the Wall Street LZ, then a motorcade to the restaurant, then another motorcade to the play, then a final motorcade back to the LZ, then a chopper flight to JFK, before the First Couple and crew jetted back to AAFB for another chopper to the White House.
One thing is known — The Obamas picked up the cost of dinner costs and their orchestra seat tickets, which cost $96.50 a piece. So if the whole thing cost $250,000, the Obamas offset that by at least a few hundred bucks. Phew.

President Barry Soetoro and his Iranian Caviar eating bride landed in New York Saturday afternoon, and after taking a helicopter from JFK into Manhattan, drove up the West Side Highway, where the northbound lanes were shut down by police for their visit, past Ground Zero, into the Village for diner at the Village's Blue Hill restaurant. From there, they went north to Times Square, where they went to to see a production of "Joe Turner's Come and Gone" at the Belasco Theater on West 44 Street.
Deputy Press Secretary Barry spokesman read a statement from Barry: "I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished."
When asked about the cost of the trip, coming just ahead of the expected announcement of GM's bankruptcy filing on Monday, A spokesman for Barry told pool reporter Dave Michaels of the Dallas Morning News, that he "didn't anticipate being able to provide a cost estimate tonight."
After the play let out at about 11:30 p.m., the presidential motorcade went down Sixth Avenue, shut down by the NYPD.

OK i do not think date night is a bad idea. However each one seems to be on public display for a guy (Barry) who is increasingly appearing to be a media whore. Again I do not want this to appear as though I disagree with a date night for Barry and his Iranian Caviar eating bride. I do have a problem with Barry chastising the auto maker CEOs' for taking private jets when the at the time the (still public companies) were in fiscal trouble and telling the American people they may have to make some sacrafices. Yet Barry seems to spare no expense on the taxpayers dime!!!! People should be angry and mad as hell over this mans poor stewardship of their money. I almost feel Barry does not do date night for his Iranian Caviar eating wife! Since most people would think some private moments would be wanted with ones wife on a date night. Lets be honest and say Barry does it to be in the media spot light and Barrys' biggest ego trip of all BECAUSE HE CAN! Before we know it a TMZ reporter will be traveling in the press corps. So Barry does date night just like he did national prayer day when he according to Gibbs "PUBLICLY PRAYED IN PRIVATE" I guess Barry and his Iranian Caviar eating bride "PUBLICLY HAVE PRIVATE DATES" and it did not cost him a dime!

Sonia Sotomayor "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion (as a judge) than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

Has discrimination against white men to advance people of color become acceptable? Affirmative action got Sonia Sotomayor where she is at present. Why can we not just hire the best person for the job regardless of color or race.

Obama Offers Prime Posts to Those Who Helped Bankroll Campaign

May 29 (Bloomberg) -- Louis Susman has one thing in common with many of his predecessors nominated to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom: money.
Susman, 71, a retired Citigroup Inc. senior investment banker, raised between $200,000 and $500,000 for President Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and another $300,000 for his inauguration. On Wednesday, Obama nominated Susman to the post formally known as the Court of St. James.
Like Andrew Mellon, Joseph Kennedy and Walter Annenberg before him, Susman’s credentials stem more from involvement in financing party politics than foreign policy experience.
Even with his pledges to change government, Obama is following the tradition of his predecessors by offering some ambassadorships to top campaign backers, including four of the 12 nominations this week. The president acknowledged in a news conference in January that donors might get plum postings.
“The practice of rewarding donors is a remnant of the spoils system that we abolished in the civil service,” said career diplomat Ronald Neumann, president of the American Academy of Diplomacy and a former ambassador to Afghanistan. “It is a dismal testimony to the importance of money in our electoral system.”
“That said, the republic will survive the president selling a few embassies.”
Reagan Appointment
Susman is a former vice chairman of corporate and investment banking at Citigroup. He was finance chairman for John Kerry’s 2004 Democratic presidential campaign and raised money for the presidential runs of Senators Edward Kennedy and Bill Bradley.
Besides Susman, those nominated on May 27 include:
-- John Roos, chief executive officer of the Palo Alto, California-based law firm Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, to Japan. He raised more than $500,000 for Obama.
-- Charles Rivkin, chief executive officer of Wildbrain Inc., to France. Rivkin collected more than $500,000 for Obama’s campaign and $300,000 for his inauguration.
-- Laurie Fulton, a partner with Williams & Connolly LLP, to Denmark. Fulton, 59, raised $100,000 to $200,000.
Susman said he was “excited by the opportunity to serve our country.” A call to Fulton was referred to the White House. Roos, 54, and Rivkin, 47, didn’t respond to requests for comment.
Rewarding Rooney
Two other nominees -- Vilma Martinez, 65, a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP in California, to Argentina, and Miguel Diaz, 46, a theology professor at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, to the Vatican -- gave to Obama.
On St. Patrick’s Day, Obama named Dan Rooney, owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, as ambassador to Ireland. Rooney, 76, a Republican, endorsed Obama last year.
“The system, despite any desires, is not basically going to change in this administration or any other,” said former ambassador Mort Abramowitz, who spent more than 30 years in the State Department.
On Jan. 9, when Obama conceded he wouldn’t abandon the practice, he said, “It would be disingenuous for me to suggest that there are not going to be some excellent public servants but who haven’t come through the ranks of the civil service.”
‘Committed Individuals’
Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, called the nominees “a group of committed individuals and proven professionals that are eager to serve their country.”
Since John F. Kennedy became president in 1961, about one- third of ambassadorships have gone to campaign donors or other politically connected individuals, according to the American Academy of Diplomacy.
“It’s very prestigious being the ambassador and living in a large residence,” said John Naland, president of the American Foreign Service Association.
Wealthy ambassadors have paid to help refurbish their residences abroad or to throw parties. Annenberg, U.S. ambassador under President Richard Nixon, spent almost $1 million renovating his quarters, according to the New York Times.
Between January 2001 and January 2007, President George W. Bush named 124 people to foreign posts. Fifty-three had raised at least $100,000 for his presidential campaigns, according to the Center for Public Integrity, a Washington-based watchdog group.
Ameriquest
One was Roland Arnall, the founder of Ameriquest Mortgage Co., a subprime lender, who served as ambassador to the Netherlands. Ameriquest and its subsidiaries gave $1 million to Bush’s 2005 inaugural committee.
Former President Bill Clinton named M. Larry Lawrence, owner of the landmark Hotel del Coronado near San Diego and a campaign donor, as ambassador to Switzerland. Lawrence’s body was later exhumed from Arlington National Cemetery amid allegations that his claims of Merchant Marine service were fraudulent.
Some career diplomats are trying to change the practice. Neumann and Thomas Pickering, a former ambassador, wrote letters to both major presidential nominees last year asking them to limit political appointees to 10 percent of ambassadorships.
“Too often ambassadorships have served as political rewards for unqualified candidates,” they wrote.
Some Obama appointments have drawn praise. Abramowitz cited former U.S. Representative Tim Roemer of Indiana as ambassador to India and Jon Huntsman, the Republican governor of Utah, as ambassador to China. “It’s largely better than previous administrations,” he said.
Abramowitz said there will always be appointments that are naturally suited toward non-career officials.
“People aren’t going to worry about who goes to Trinidad and Tobago,” he said.
